What’s the Social Issue?

Environmental conservation often feels like a catch-22 situation, with many youths concerned about climate change and environmental degradation but lacking access to local resources and guidance that could help them take action.

While awareness skyrockets, there is an urgent need to empower youths with the knowledge, skills, and most importantly, access necessary to contribute to climate and biodiversity conservation - now more than ever.

The Challenge

As interest in green careers rises amongst the youth, and opportunities open up within organisations in the field, we are bridging the gap between the two – ensuring that those passionate about the planet are able to continue preserving important knowledge about environmental conservation through the generations.

What We Did

01

We managed the strategic recruitment, promotion, and programme execution for the first cohort of the YELL Conservocation programme in 2025.

Successfully matched interns with 24 host organisations from all over Malaysia!

02

We also organised learning trips alongside six capacity building workshops

Our Interns had the opportunity to learn about topics such as social media and creative communications, personal growth and development, as well as sharpen their problem-solving skills.

What are the immediate outcomes after the programme?

6 interns successfully retained

as full-time employees by their host organisations, while the rest have continued to pursue careers in the field.

The Impact

50

Interns + Host Organisations

We had a total of 26 interns and 24 host organisations.

+44%

In understanding

Interns reported a 44% increase in understanding of conservation and sustainability issues in Malaysia.

+28%

In self-perception

We also saw a 28% increase in participants' confidence in clearly communicating their thoughts and ideas, as well as problem-solving and adaptation.
